Every workday, I take the J or Z train home from Broad Street, over the Williamsburg Bridge, and into Bushwick. I soon noticed that the J tended to make prolonged stops at Myrtle Avenue, often to let the (local) M train pass in front. I wanted to calculate just how often this happened, and what impact this may be having on the thousands of New Yorkers who ride the line every day.
